2000 residents of Ikorodu have been supported by the Chairmanship aspirant for Ikorodu Local Government, Prince AbdulLateef Adedayo Abayomi Ladega, with food packs for breaking the ongoing Ramadan and Lent fasting.

The food packs consisted of semovita, wheat, macaroni and noodles.

The distribution took place at the Ikorodu Musical Village on Monday, with beneficiaries cutting across the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ikorodu Muslim Community, political wards, special people and others.

The occasion which saw many former political office holders in Ikorodu Local Government in attendance to support the young politician’s aspiration also served as an avenue for Prince Ladega to publicly declare his intention for the first time.

The soft-spoken aspirant who said that he and others contesting for the position are from the same family, assured the Ikorodu electorate that his administration would give the Ikorodu electorate good governance.

“We have invited you here to felicitate during the Ramadan and Lent fasting with you and by the grace of God, we shall all reap the blessings of the period.

“I am aspiring for the position of the Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government and I know that many of us are already aware. If given the mandate, I will make you all proud.

“I want to assure that the people will be the focus of my administration and we shall serve you better,” he said

Prince Ladega said that he would not turn into a boss, and also assured residents of Ikorodu of better days ahead if he is elected.

While also stating that all the aspirants are from the same family, he called for peaceful conduct in the campaign.

“All the aspirants are your children and there is none among us that does not have rights, but God knows who is going to be crowned as the next Council Chairman.

“The contest is not a do or die affair and we are not fighting ourselves and by the grace of God the person that will turn things around positively and make life easy for the people shall at the end of the day emerge as the Chairman,”  he noted.

Mr Lawal Yusuf Gbadebo, Director – General, Ladega Campaign Team in an interview with THE IMPACT said that the Ladega Campaign Team is embarking on distribution of food items to show love to the residents:

“We are here to show love for our people owing to the fact that we are in the season of fasting and as God will have it, both the Christians and Muslims alike have their fasting together at the same time.

“We then felt that as a team, we should support the people and bring team succour to the people and that is the manifestation of what is going on.

“We invited the representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN,), Muslim Community in Ikorodu, party members across various wards and other interest groups, special people and other stakeholders.

“Our target is to get these Ramadan and Lent food relief items across to 2000 residents.”

Many of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the donor for what they termed as significant support for breaking fast in this season.

They prayed for him and wished him well in his Chairmanship aspiration.

Some of the party and community leaders at the event were Chief Abiodun Awolesi, Salu Apesin of Ikorodu, Chief Giwa Imale, a former political office holder, Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo, former Council Leader, Ikorodu LG and Evang. Mrs Omobola Ilubanwo, JP.
